true colors
The sky was heavy with gray clouds... leaving our corner of the world covered in a soft layer of mist. Our boys were heading home from overnight camping-without-sleeping... and we were starting to come to life after a full yesterday. But we were warm. And cozy. Inside our safe haven. I feel like coloring she said... and off she went to print a coloring page. Hey... print one for me, too I called after her.
We sat amongst the crayolas... and shared laughter and silence and shades of green.
Fifteen minutes... or so... just us.
She.
And me.
I knew in a flash that this was my Tuesday moment. A scrap of time to treasure... because I cannot turn back the clock...

I love coloring. And I love the relationship you have with your daughter, and the way you write about her. :)
Awwwww, makes me want to color today with Fep!!
And immediately after reading the title of this post, the Cyndi Lauper song, "True Colors", started running through my head. It may be there all day long! ;)
How cool is that? Another chance to savor a special moment with her. . . another chance to make a deposit in her emotional bank account. . . another chance to let her know that how much you treasure just being with her. Yes!
and the clock ticks by way too fast. Enjoy those moments!
Oh, to be able to slow down and take advantage of each of those moments! Thanks for sharing yours and reminding me to grasp my own.
Coloring and painting with my kids is my favorite. I don't do it often enough.
Squeeze all you can out of those moments. I miss them.
enjoy those little moments! they are absolutely magical!
Definitely a time to treasure.
Coloring is so therapeutic. We love it too...
Lo colored pictures for us for Christmas..I almost cried!!!
I love coloring! So much fun to do and sometimes good conversations come out of the time spent just being still with the crayons. : )
I love coloring with the kids! great quiet time with the little ones.
I love slowing down and just taking in the moment!
Coloring is so relaxing.
such a sweet moment indeed! i always secretly cherish them, without mine knowing i'm making too big a deal out of it. heehee. if only she knew!
What a precious moment to treasure!!! I love it!!
Oh Dawn...I am with you. She and me...because you can't turn back the clock.
Don't you with there was a pause button?
This is simply beautiful....far too often I don't take the time to slow down and color with my boys. I pray that the next time they want to color I will remember this post and treasure my time with them.
So sweet. I wish my boys liked to color more...I'm always trying to cajole them into it, but they are much too busy for something so relaxing!
Aren't these little moments, just little surprise packages. Today we stopped at the grocery store and my 15 year old daughter hollered to me, "Mommy". Mommy?, I thought...ahhh, Mommy. Precious moments!
Dawn, you are so good at making every moment count. That is one of the many things I love about you and your blog!
