easy does it
Yesterday, I put the sick behind me and stepped on the treadmill. The first real exercise in months. The strides felt good as I walked... and my feet wanted to fly. Thankfully, I was determined to let my head be in control. Slow and steady. Slow feet and steady breathing. One day at a time, and hopefully I will be back to my three-mile mornings... wheeze free. For all my life, breathing has come naturally... but these past months have taught me that a deep breath is most certainly a gift. And a one I am thankful for on this Tuesday.

Good job! Three miles? Wow. I've never been able to run even one. You go, girl!
ReplyDeleteSo true. I had 'the bronchitis' for over a month earlier this year. And I too was surprised at just how long it takes everything to get back to normal. You'll get there!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are back to something you love!
ReplyDeleteUh Oh, I hope you get rid of the wheeze. Several times a year I'll suddenly be overcome by a violent cough attack that leads to gasping for breath while I feel my throat swelling up. I can inhale very short breaths but can't exhale. It's extremely scary, I don't wish that on anyone. I've been told I don't have asthma they call it bronchial spasms. I call it fighting for my life!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get better and your feet are able to fly again!!
So glad that you were able to get on the treadmill again. I find that if I can exercise it does a lot for me, not only physically, but mentally, too. As I ease back into it, I always think Baby Steps.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're feeling better and taking deep breaths again, Dawn. :)
ReplyDeleteway to go, Dawn--for doing it, and for not over-doing it!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are feeling better too. And now I'm feeling like I should get on a treadmill, and to make myself feel less guilty I'm goin to eat a cookie.
ReplyDeleteglad you're feeling better!! and i love the pic of your shell heart on the beach!!!
ReplyDeleteSlow and steady wins the race! Here's hoping that you'll be breathing deeply and effortlessly very soon. Thank God you're finally able to get back on the treadmill. . . I have a feeling you'll want to be in good shape before your trip!
ReplyDeleteBreathing is never overrated.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting back to YOURSELF.
I also wiped the dust off my treadmill this morning. It did not hurt as bad as I thought it would. But then again, the day is not over yet.....
yahoo! good for you! come over! i have a little award for you!
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Dawn! Baby steps will take you all the way!
ReplyDeleteWay to go!! I remember having the flu last year and was amazed at how long it took my breathing to return to normal!! Enjoy the exercising!!
ReplyDeleteI told the man yesterday I'm getting another treadmill. You've inspired me to just do it.
ReplyDeleteI have asthma sometimes and I certainly understand. Isn't a deep breath so cleansing now?
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are feeling better!!
