We planned.
We shopped.
And then... we cooked.
Truthfully? I loved every second of working beside her in the kitchen. Teaching her to chop the onions just so. Laughing about loving the carrot shredding tool. Scooping up stray mushrooms from the tile floor. It might be quicker to just do it myself... but maybe less joy is not worth the minutes I save.
The recipe? Lazy Lo Mein from Desperation Dinners. I love that cookbook.

And just think...she can do it on her own next time, but she will remember YOU taught her how to do it.
I do hope you trahsed the dropped 'shrooms??
FUN! I always loved it when it was just us girls and my Mom. . . cooking was less about getting dinner on the table and more about the fun of making something we'd like to eat.
I've never seen the Desperation Dinners cookbook. Should I check it out?
I can almost smell it from here. Slowing down in the kitchen... wonderful idea.
That looks so yummy...
Will have to check out that cookbook!
I love that cookbook too. That's one of my favorite recipes. It doesn't taste like it didn't take very long. Love. IT! : )
Good times in the kitchen, great memories made.
When I make my bed, I still recall my mom teaching my how all those years ago.
Yummy, yummy! Great memories you cooked up that day!
